This is a great filter, it's much bigger than my other sponge filter that was meant for 10 gallons too. It did seem overly large at first but it filters incredibly well! It is also possible to add an air stone if you follow a standard video on how to do it. The regular air flow was fairly quiet before I even added an air stone. The weighted base is a plus!
