Emperor tetras (Nematobrycon palmeri) are an elegant looking species of tetras that can be easily sexed even at a young age. Females display green eyes, while males possess blue eyes and a yellow seam on their anal fins. Adult males have elongated dorsal fins and tail fins, which extend in the middle creating a trident shape. It gives them an imperial look as they look like they are wearing little tuxedos. Emperor tetras are hardy fish and do not require a castle to be happy, but as they are larger species of tetras and like to school, we would recommend keeping them in tanks larger than 20 gallons.

FAQ (Frequently Asked Questions)

Yes, you can order fish along with dry goods. However, if the dry goods are heavy or bulky, it may be more cost-effective to place two separate orders. In that case, you could ship the dry goods using a slower, more affordable shipping option.

If your order has not shipped yet, you can email us your correct shipping address, and we will update it for you.

On weekdays, if we receive your order before 2 p.m., it will be shipped out the same day. Dry goods are shipped from Monday to Friday. Orders that include livestock are only shipped from Monday to Thursday to avoid transit over the weekend.

At checkout, you can leave your request in the comments box.

Our locker boxes are located in the foyer of our store at 230 Hanlon Creek Blvd, Unit 107, Guelph. The room is accessible from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
