Description

Pygmy cories are very cute dwarf corydoras. They are very peaceful fish, however, they are not suitable for community tanks due to their small size. Also they get quite easily intimidated and do not compete well for food with larger fish. They are suitable for aquariums with similarly sized fish (tetras, rams, apistogrammas, shrimps), perfect fish for nano tanks. Unlike majority of cories, pygmy cories likes to swim in midwater. Pygmy cories can be identified by a black stripe running from the tip of the snout to the caudal fin. We recommend to keep them in a group of at least 10 fish. These corydoras are wild caught and were de-wormed.

Cute but proving challenging to keep

I picked up 10 of these little guys and drove right home, about an hours drive. Got them home and drip acclimated them, about an hour later added them to my shrimp, chili rasbora and thread fin rainbows who are in a 29 gallon planted tank. They looked to be very healthy and settled in quickly. Were doing well for first couple of days then I noticed the numbers were dwindling. I lost 3 quickly and have since lost another 3, leaving me with 4 who are very busy and so far seem ok. I did my research beforehand and it seems they can be sensitive. My tank water parameters were perfect when I tested so did a couple of water changes to rule out water issues so not sure why they didn’t thrive. If the 4 who are left continue to survive I will be happy as I really love them. Super cute fish who are very curious and love coming to the front glass when I am there. They are eating well and are just busy.
