This internal fluidized bed air filter is designed to be used as a stand-alone filter in up to 20-gallon tanks or as an additional filter for up to 80-gallon tanks. It contains 300ml of the ZM-1 self-cleaning media that hosts beneficial bacteria. As the media constantly moves and rubs against each other, it removes old/dead bacteria and creates space for the growth of new bacteria. The filter efficiently removes ammonia and nitrites. To prevent clogging of the media, the bottom of the filter is equipped with a coarse sponge filter that traps debris. That is the only part of the filter that has to be maintained.
