Sulawesi Mineral 7.5 is the most soluble variant of our Sulawesi Mineral range. It buffers the pH at approximately 7.5 and is used for remineralizing RO water, rainwater, and fully desalinated water.
Sulawesi Mineral 7.5 contains all essential minerals and trace elements that well-known shrimp species from this region require for their health, well-being, and coloration. Breeders of cardinal shrimp (Caridina dennerli) have used it with great success. This mineral salt promotes the microbial regeneration of biological filter substrates. It raises carbonate and total hardness at a ratio of KH/°dH = 0.42/1.0.

Shrimp originating from Lake Towuti on Sulawesi (e.g., the freshwater harlequin shrimp, Caridina woltereckae, or the red-banded shrimp, Caridina striata) remain very difficult to breed in captivity. Consequently, we (Frank and Carsten Logemann) returned to the ancient lakes of Sulawesi in 2011—following our initial trip in 2008—to examine the habitat conditions and collect water samples for analysis. The results of these analyses revealed fundamental differences in the water chemistry of the Malili Lakes compared to typical lacustrine waters. We had to completely rework the mineral composition; the result of these efforts is Sulawesi Mineral 8.5.
Less sensitive Sulawesi shrimp, such as the freshwater cardinal shrimp (Caridina dennerli), can be kept and bred successfully with both Sulawesi Mineral 7.5 and Sulawesi Mineral 8.5. For more sensitive species, we aim to achieve long-term breeding success by using Sulawesi Mineral 8.5, which is virtually identical to the water chemistry of Lake Towuti.
Instructions for use
Add Sulawesi Mineral 7.5 to water outside of your aquarium. It will dissolve almost instantly, and the water is ready for use immediately. We recommend matching the temperature of the new water to your tank. Please ensure that any undissolved particles are added to your tank as well. Close the container securely after every use.
Dosage
Remineralize RO water, rainwater, or fully desalinated water with Sulawesi Mineral 7.5 until a hardness of approximately 6 °dH and/or a conductivity of approximately 270 +/- 40 µS (microsiemens) is reached. This corresponds to one slightly heaped measuring spoon (approximately 3.5 g) per 15 litres of water. A measuring spoon is included.
