Apistogramma borellii is a beautiful peaceful South American cichlid that is suitable for community tanks. They can be kept in pairs (1 male and 1 female) or in trios (1 male + 2 females). The fish tend to be quite shy and so it is recommended to rear them in a nice planted tank with a few small caves. As in other Apistogramma species, the males are more colorful and are larger than females. These fish are quite flexible in terms of water hardness and pH, they can be kept in both soft and hard water.
Known as the Umbrella Cichlid due to its massive, round dorsal fin. Males display a bright yellow body wrapped in shimmering neon-blue scales. They are uniquely cold-tolerant compared to other apistos.
