Amano shrimp (Caridina multidentata previously C.japonica) is an algae eating shrimp that was named after Takashi Amano who introduce this shrimp to the aquarium hobby. This species of shrimp is found in Japan and parts of Korea and Taiwan. It has a translucent body covered with reddish brown points which resemble a broken line. Amano shrimps are difficult to breed but they can tolerate wide range of water conditions. Adults reach about 2 inches (5 cm).
