ShrimpFit is a complementary special feed designed to boost the immune system of ornamental shrimp. It supplies your shrimp with nutritionally important active ingredients such as beta-glucans, mannan-oligosaccharides, minerals, and chitin. Shrimp possess an innate, so-called primitive immune system. This means that it cannot "learn" over time and must defend itself repeatedly against the same "attackers". If an infection with a particular opponent has passed, the shrimp's immune system does not recognize it, and the fight begins anew. Most bacterial infections in aquarium shrimp are caused by non-pathogenic bacteria—the normal bacteria that live in every aquarium and within every living thing. Unfortunately, these can quickly lead to a problem when the immune system becomes weakened or fails to activate quickly. A sleepy "guard" or a sluggish "fighting force" can be decisive. When introducing new shrimp, snails, or fish into an aquarium, new bacteria can quickly colonize the shrimp, multiply rapidly, and, if the immune system is not fit, it can often lead to mortality.

In short, without an immune system, a shrimp is vulnerable to decomposition by bacteria. The immune system prevents this, which is why it is vital to strengthen it so the shrimp can ward off pathogens and remain healthy. Its primary job is to react faster and stronger than its opponents. Beta-glucans

Beta-1,3-1,6-glucans are structures recognized by the immune system as "pathogens." Without being pathogenic themselves, they trigger immune activation without producing disease symptoms. The immune system is thus conditioned. Beta-glucans are recognized by special receptors of phagocytes (macrophages) and immediately absorbed. This activates the formation of additional cells for immune defense, which can effectively protect the body from new pathogens in the blood and lymphatic system and reduce the reaction time for a defense. As soluble fibre in the yeast hydrolysate, the beta-glucans are fermented by the intestinal flora into short-chain fatty acids such as acetate, butyrate, and propionate. Short-chain fatty acids are important regulators for a healthy metabolism; butyrate is the primary energy source for intestinal mucosal cells and has an anti-inflammatory effect.

Mannan-Oligosaccharides

Mannan-Oligosaccharides promote beneficial probiotic bacteria and a healthy composition of the intestinal flora through their prebiotic effect.

Minerals and chitin

The contained minerals and chitin support the structure of the exoskeleton and counteract moulting problems. Each moult is a great display of strength for the shrimp organism; during this time, when all energy is concentrated on the moult, shrimp are weakened and vulnerable. Unnecessarily long moulting phases cause additional stress, which lowers immune defenses; therefore, it is vital that the moult is smooth and fast.

First Aid

First Aid may help prevent major damage by activating the immune systems of unaffected or affected shrimp more efficiently. Simultaneously, toxins are bound by ShrimpFit and released from the intestine.

• Immediately: 1 heaped measuring spoon
• After 2 days: 1 heaped measuring spoon

Preventative and regular feeding

When used as a preventative or regular feed, it forms a protective film in the intestinal mucosa and increases the alertness of the immune system so that invaders can be fought faster and more effectively.

• Normally stocked: twice a week, 1/2 measuring spoon
• Highly stocked: twice a week, 1 heaped measuring spoon

It is recommended to avoid providing other food for a few hours before and after feeding GlasGarten ShrimpFit to optimally exploit the effect of the beta-glucans. Overdosing or more frequent feeding is not recommended, as the effect of the ingredients lasts for several days.
