Headstanders are the best (but forget plants if you get them)

I kept this species for over 25 years -- the same individual fish. They are very long-lived with the right conditions, including soft, clean water. They need plants in their diet and they destroy aquarium plants faster than they can grow. Do not even think of growing Amazon swords with these guys in the tank! They love blueberries and mango, dandelion, lettuce, and any vegetable scraps from the kitchen. They also eat nuts. Anyway, these are beautiful and charismatic fish. They do best in a school. They're somewhat aggressive with each other (ramming and showing off, some fin biting) but they generally leave everything else alone, and the more of them there are, the more the aggression is spread out. They are rewarding to keep.

Fish crack

Catfish and characins (both South American and Congo) prefer this kind of sinking wafer to every other food I've tried in 30 years of fishkeeping. Even fish with tiny mouths will try to grab whole wafers and swim off with them. I use a pill crusher to make these hard wafers easier to eat for my small African tetras -- I have to feed these wafers to the tetras, too, or they don't leave any for the catfish! Seriously, this product is fish crack. If you have a fish that isn't eating well, try feeding them this.

Amazing tiny fish

Just picked up 30 of these along with 6 neon tetras to increase the group I already had. The embers were quite pale floating in their bags but, WOW! As soon as I released them they have colored up nicely and both the Ember & neon are starting to school as a group. So happy I chose to go with these.

Such cute fish!

Received healthy fish. After a couple of weeks in tank 1 died. Not sure the reason. All other fishes are fine in tank.
