Good Cholla Wood

I've never bought Cholla Wood before, so I figured I'd get some on hand to try with my Amano and Bloody Mary shrimp. They arrived in perfect condition, they are pretty much 4" long and visually interesting specimens and I'm sure the fish, shrimp and snails I keep will enjoy checking them out.

Shrimp Gone Wild

Whenever I add a tiny dose of Bacter AE to my Bloody Mary shrimp colony, the shrimp, Nerite snails and other random snails come running. The only negative is that you realize how many uninvited/unwanted/unappreciated/undesirable snails are living in your aquariums.

Tasty Treat

My Bloody Mary shrimp colony as well as the two Nerite snails (and other random snails) living with them absolutely loved this food from day one. They come out for it droves similar to their reaction to Bacter AE. There is certainly entertainment value in watching shrimp wrestle for a specific piece of this stuff! It is also popular in my community tank although I don't feed it to that tank regularly.

Fast Sinking

While it is a sinking food, I wish it didn't sink as fast as it does because some of the members of my community tank take a while to figure out that it's food rapidly passing by them on its way to the bottom. The only fish that won't touch them are my vegetarian Oto cats. Everyone else goes down to the bottom to eat them - Amano shrimp, Plecos, Cardinal Tetras, Roseline Sharks, Zebra Danios and Nerite Snails. Haven't tried feeding it to my Bloody Mary shrimp yet.

Too Dusty

I've been using the Flourite Black and Flourite Black sand products for close to a year. Plants thrive in it. It looks great in my aquariums. It gravel vacs pretty well. It hides detritus well. That said, I really hate how much time and effort I have to spend rinsing off the dust before using it. I find it clouds my tank even after a thorough rinsing before the remaining dust settles. Don't skip rinsing it whatever you do. I will certainly be trying other options for my next build or rebuild.

Very Slick!!

This hose is pretty slick! There is a learning curve to it for sure but works great. I have it hooked up to my hand held shower but I can't refill tank using it because of our soft water on that tap. It can't be hooked up to my kitchen faucet unfortunately. I have to use jugs of hard water or bring in our garden hose to refill tank. Angel Fins is a great place to shop. Great fast service!
