This skimmer is great at keeping the surface clear and the motor is extremely quiet. I'm sure this could be the only filtration used in some small planted tanks. Sometimes I get noise from the water being syphoning in, but not often. I read elsewhere that shrimp can crawl into it and get stuck. This is exactly what I had happen. Ended up putting the skimmer on an intermittent timer that toggles it on and off every 10 minutes which allows any shrimp to escape.

Beautiful fish

Bought a school that were packed in two bags. All looked healthy and active. Immediately after introduction I did lose five to aggressive fin nipping by the rest of the school. After that everything has been smooth.

I added one to my tank. It is active and healthy, going through the algae and cleaning a lot. Seems happy in the environment. Highly recommended.

Nice unique pattern

I purchased one of them, ended up with a great individual, moving around continuously, feeding on the algae and inspecting every inch of the aquarium.
